New features, performance enhancements and usability improvements
BioStrand Retrieve & Relate (R&R), the hyper-scalable, multi-database, zero-code, self-service platform for end-to-end multi-omics data analytics, is continuously evolving in terms of functional scope, feature-richness and accessible UI.
Our approach to development is rooted in three key principles:
One, make all biological data instantly accessible, integratable and computable to empower data-driven research organizations.
Two, provide a comprehensive set of tools, processes and workflows under a unified and advanced analytical framework to enable fully integrated multi-omics analysis.
And three, make the UX as inclusive and accessible as possible to democratize bioinformatics and genomics research.
Here, then, is a roundup of some of the key new features, performance enhancements and usability improvements that we have recently added to the BioStrand platform.

Accurate pattern and motif mapping, at-scale
Search for specific patterns/motifs within a result set
Patterns and motifs in biological sequences often correspond to functionally or structurally important elements in protein and DNA sequences. The ability to quickly and accurately identify and map patterns and motifs across large volumes of complex and heterogeneous postgenomic data significantly accelerates knowledge extraction.
We have now added a new Motif Search feature that allows you to quickly hone in on specific patterns, motifs and/or variations within the result set of their primary query. Motif Search provides an additional filter to fine-tune your search by, for instance, isolating sequences containing patterns of interest or excluding sequences with motifs that are not pertinent to your research.

We have centred the BioStrand research experience on an instantly recognizable and intuitively accessible interface element that is our Search bar. For instance, launching a sequence comparison is as simple as inputting a relevant text string or FASTA file into the search console and hitting enter.
However, underlying our simple Search interface is a sophisticated research tool with a lot of complex possibilities. In order to showcase the range of these possibilities, we have launched a new feature that generates a quick overview of all potential input queries for our Search tool. You can now use the quick launch buttons to launch an example query from the overview, explore potential research pathways and experiment with the sophisticated capabilities of our platform.
Adaptability of translation frame and table
Easily adapt all key translation parameters while launching/re-launching queries
Translation tables and frames differ across organisms. The ability to select the resources pertinent to your research is key to streamlining and accelerating the research process.
We have now added a new functionality that enables users to quickly and easily adapt the translation frame and translation table, whether you are launching a new query or re-launching a query from history, this new feature allows you to define/redefine the parameters at any stage during the research process to ensure that they are always aligned with your objectives.
In addition, we have also made it easier to align the starting position of the coding frame to the start of a sequence.
Updated taxonomy viewer, with a filterable results tree
Harmonized, filterable data visualization for multi-database results
Orchestrated multi-database analytics is one of the key differentiators of the BioStrand platform. However, we also understand that multi-database research is only as good as the data filtering and visualization tools that enhance the intelligibility and comprehensibility of the results.
The updated taxonomy viewer provides a unified multi-database summary to create a quickly digestible overview of how specific or a-specific your sequence is in relation to different species. The tree viewer then allows you to filter down to the level of taxonomy and identify how it relates to the results.
More productive error message interactions
Open a support ticket directly from the error popup
In an ideal computing paradigm, error messages would be obsolete. The next best alternative until then is to ensure that error messages are designed to one, provide insights that help users resolve the snag themselves and two, enable a quick path to resolution.
We have completely redesigned error message interactions on our platform to improve usability. With the new design, error messages will include relevant information to help you solve the issue yourself, failing which you just click on the message to directly send it to BioStrand support and get it resolved as quickly as possible.
General performance enhancements
Accelerated search, improved UX etc.
In addition, we have also rolled out several performance enhancements in terms of Search and UX. For instance, you will now find that the search process is significantly faster. As part of our continuing effort to enhance UX, we have also introduced a context menu that vastly simplifies how users can select, copy and search specific sequences.
